PROPHET Isaac Amata, the Nigerian cleric who prophesied that the Zambian Kwacha would appreciate to K5 per US Dollar by June 2016 is now struggling to prove his authenticity as Zambians have continued criticizing him.
Early this year, the cleric took to social networking site Facebook claiming that God had told him that President Lungu would retain the presidency during the August 11 elections. He went on to claim that the Kwacha would appreciate to about K5 per US Dollar. He also claimed that Zambia would have a serious flood around April 2016 which would result into lots of water collecting in the Kariba Dam—thereby marking the end of load shedding in the country. He also extended his prophecies to the state of national affairs in the United Kingdom where he indicated that the UK referendum would see the monarchy remain in the European Union after voting.
In April when some selected townships in Lusaka received some unexpected torrential rains, he claimed it was the fulfillment of his prophecy. When the United Kingdom voted to leave the EU, Prophet Amata was mute. The clergyman has also been quiet over the continued depreciation of the Kwacha (now at about K9.7 per Dollar) which he said would greatly appreciate by June. He has also said nothing about load shedding.
But last week, he returned to Facebook to re-enforce his earlier prophecy concerning the outcome of next month’s elections.
“My advice to all Zambians. Get ready your green dresses. In my visions, it was massive green all over Lusaka, ZAMBIA. Destination Heroes stadium. The largest gathering ever in Zambia history! Majority win for the incumbent! I never saw opposition leader of Zambia win and can never prophecy such!” stated ‘Prophet’ Amata on his Facebook page which was accompanied by a file picture of President Lungu during the official launch of the PF campaigns at Heroes Stadium.
In response, some Zambians questioned the authenticity of his prophecy because in the past, most of his prophecies never came to pass.
“Kikikiki, but your god lied about the Kwacha gaining and trading at K5 against 1US Dollar, he lied about the UK voting to remain in EU, and last but not the least, he lied about Goodluck Jonathan winning Nigerian elections. The true and living God never lies. The Bible in John says the devil is the father of all lies, so that makes the devil your father (your god),” George Chanda responded to the clergyman’s Facebook post.
Another Zambian, Memory Mwanza, stated: “ Man of God, please forgive me for being a doubting Thomas. But your prophecies never come to pass. So, why should we believe you now. Please learn to prophesy not proflying.”
Others accused the clergyman of being hired by some known people to prophesy in certain way so as to influence the minds of Zambians.
In response, ‘Prophet’ Amata stated that he was a true man of God who does not lie. He claimed that those criticizing him were part of the group hired to discredit him online.
“My stand for God’s chosen Edgar Lungu has attracted a lot of attacks. Plans against me on social media and others. I repeat without apologies that Edgar Lungu wins because he is chosen and God’s hands are upon him. The more the attacks the more I will keep saying the mind of God,” he said.
The Nigerian was recently in Zambia seeking to meet President Lungu. It is not clear if he managed to meet the Head of State. He did however manage to find himself on Revelation and TBN television screens where he propagated his prophecies.
