PRONOUNCEMENTS by opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema that he will ‘fix’ the Zambian economy is nothing but an empty political statement not worth the paper it’s written on, says PF Central Committee vice chairman for Elections Kelvin Bwalya Fube.

Mr. Fube in a statement stated that President Lungu had already ‘fixed’ the economy that Mr. Hichilema was talking about.

“Pronouncements by opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema that he will ‘fix’ the Zambian economy is nothing but an empty political statement not worth the paper it’s written on. The reason for this is simply because whatever Hichilema says he wants to fix, President Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front are already working on, or expanding upon in order to make the lives of Zambians better,” Mr. Fube stated.

He stated that diversification, anti-graft, agriculture and cutting down on government spending were issues that were central in the PF manifesto.

“President Lungu himself re-affirmed this commitment when he travelled to the Copperbelt for the Kopala Launch when he said, ‘We are already fixing the energy sector, the agriculture sector production has gone up by more than ten percent while farming in puts are arriving on time’. The so called 10 point plan the opposition say they have is simply a copy of things we are already implementing,” Mr. Fube stated.

“The President joked in Bemba saying: ‘Te filya chali nakusukulu nga uli wa mano aba nobe balakopelako (When you are good in class, everyone wants to copy from you) that’s the way it is with the opposition…they are copying everything we are doing good and calling it their plan.”

Mr. Fube stated that President Lungu had won plaudit locally and abroad for putting Zambia on a robust energy path that will see load shedding reduce.

He stated that President Lungu had set aside $4 billion in the energy sector and more than $100million in World Bank funds for agriculture and diversification.
