NEVERS Mumba has advised those surrounding President Edgar Lungu to begin to prepare for electoral defeat because time for them to leave power has come.
And Mumba says it is not for God to stop violence, but President Lungu who possesses power as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
Meanwhile, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba says Zambians should use a don’t kubeba part two on the Patriotic Front in the coming elections.
Kapisha area in Chingola, Mumba said the wind for change of government was massive because people had been deeply frustrated by the PF government which had failed to meet their needs.
“Chingola today looks like a war-torn area. Roads are terrible, people have lost jobs in the mines, suffering everywhere and I can only see suffering. You have come here in numbers to show us how frustrated and vulnerable this government has left you. Change of government is inevitable, people have spoken and they [PF] are going. Those surrounding Edgar Lungu, my advice is that start preparing his exit, begin to psyche him on how to handle defeat in a general election,” Mumba said.
He said Zambians in Chingola did not hate President Lungu as a human being but hated his ineffectiveness as a Head of State, who had failed to protect their interests even in the mines where thousands had lost jobs.
Mumba said the UPND would have a huge task of restoring the glory of the rich historical town of Chingola that had been left vulnerable by the PF.
“This is the more reason we decided to join hands with the UPND and Hakainde Hichilema to ensure that we remove this corrupt regime from power. If we allow the PF to win, this country will be destroyed completely by these greedy and corrupt leaders. Their insatiable appetite for power, wealth and oppression of people with divergent views is sickening,” Mumba said.
Speaking at another campaign rally in Kitwe’s Mulenga compound, Mumba warned President Lungu to stop abusing and mocking God’s name by hoodwinking Zambians to fast and pray against political violence when he was the chief culprit in fueling the vice.
He stated that President Lungu recently publicly announced that he had summoned senior police officers to State House and ordered them to ‘sort out’ the opposition because ukutumpa kwachilamo.
“He is instigating and fanning violence at night by using the police to harass the opposition and in the morning wears a deceptive humble face to ask the country to fast and pray. God cannot be mocked and does not initiate violence but President Lungu does. It is not for God to stop violence, but Lungu,” Mumba said.
He said as Commander-inChief with all security wings under his control, President Lungu is abusing his authority by frustrating opposition campaigns.
“This is done through abrupt cancellations, provocative and senseless police and ZAF actions deliberately aimed at disadvantaging the opposition while giving unfair political advantage and free course to the PF to freely conduct their campaigns,” Mumba said.
He said wherever the UPND and alliance partners went in Northern and Luapula provinces the previous week, they met heavy police resistance and harassment exemplified by the surrounding of Radio Mano by armed police, threats of grounding their chopper, cancelling of landing and flying permits and short notice expulsion orders to leave the provinces by the police command and Zambia Air Force Commander all under the guise of President Lungu’s anticipated visits to the areas.
“This harassment included the latest attack on the UPND vice-president’s private residence and harassment of his wife and family in Kasama where the police raided and ransacked the place, resulting in the disappearance of K345,000 cash which had been in the house,” said Mumba.
And GBM, the UPND running mate, said the future of the country was in the hands of the voters who must act decisively and save the country from total collapse by voting out the PF.
“Use a don’t kubeba part two on them, the PF. Look at your children and show them the love they need by ensuring that you walk with us and together, we can say no to corrupt leadership. If the PF continues in power, you have no future together with your children. The country will be safe under the UPND. The environment will be conducive for all of us to live in as equal human beings with equal opportunities,” said GBM.
