By Bright Chikele:
Whistle blowers from within the United Party for National Development (UPND) reported the manufacture of petrol bombs and presence of crude and offensive weapons discovered at the home of Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba’s in Kasama.
Patriotic UPND cadres reported the matter to police, Kasama Central MP aspirant Kelvin Sampa, has disclosed.
Mr Sampa has charged that it was outrageous and preposterous for UPND zealot Dante Saunders to accuse President Edgar Lungu of planting the petrol bombs and other offensive weapons at Mr Mwamba’s house in Kasama.
Mr Sampa has called for the arrest and prosecution of Mr Saunders for scandalizing and demeaning President Lungu because such accusations were intended to incite Zambians to rise against the Head of State.
He said in an interview yesterday that Mr Saunders was not a resident of Kasama for him to have known what was happening in the area and that he was the best person to help the police with investigations on when President Lungu could have gone to the UPND presidential running mate’s residence to plant the bombs.
Mr Sampa said the Patriotic Front (PF) was aware that Mr Saunders was a UPND zealot masquerading as senior concerned citizen while playing politics.
He said the UPND cadres who manufactured the weapons realized that Zambia was more important than the ambitions of the UPND to take over power at all costs and volunteered the information to the police who raided Mr Mwamba’s place from where they discovered seven petrol bombs.
“The people who manufactured those petrol bombs and other crude and offensive weapons realized the ill-intention of the UPND and reported the matter to police. They realized that Zambia was more important than the ambition of Mr Mwamba and his president Hakainde
Hichilema to take over power at all costs. ‘‘So it is outrageous for Mr Saunders to accuse President Lungu of having planted the weapons at Mr Mwamba’s place. Since Mr Saunders seems to know what is happening in Kasama, the police should pick him up so that he can substantiate his claims,” Mr Sampa said.
He wondered what was so special about Mr Mwamba whom he claimed was a political novice in Northern Province.
Mr Sampa said the PF and President Lungu were assured of a solid vote in Northern Province because the people in the region were happy with the massive development projects the ruling party was implementing.
He said Kasama turned up for President Lungu in large numbers to clear political misconceptions that the UPND had penetrated Northern Province and that Mr Mwamba should realize that his time to leave the political platform had come.
