Zambia: Allow opposition to campaign in Luapula, President Lungu urges Luapula Chiefs

President Edgar Lungu has urged

Traditional Leadership of Luapula

Province to allow the Opposition

campaign freely in the Region.

President Lungu says as a

Democrat himself, he wants the

People to make an informed choice

on who should lead them.

The Head of State has however,

called on Chiefs to tell the

Opposition not to perpetrate

political violence as they get into

Luapula Province which he said

has been peaceful.

ZNBC’s Michael Kaumba reports

that President Lungu was speaking

when he met six Traditional Rulers

in Samfya District.

The President said he wants to see

all Political Parties campaign

freely in every Province.

And speaking on behalf of the

Chiefs, Senior Chief Chitambo

assured the President of their

support in August 11 General

Election.

Senior Chief Chitambo said the

Chiefs are confident that President

Lungu will win the Election in the

first round.

President Lungu is in Luapula

Province on a four day working

visit and is expected to visit all the

Districts in the Province.

The President will also visit

Kawambwa, Mambilima,

Pambashe, Musangu and Mwense
