Police in the northern district of Malawi, Nkhata Bay, are keeping in custody two young boys for breaking into the house of a Nkhata Bay district hospital nurse and went away with K195, 000.
The district’s publist Ignatius Esau said the young boys Cylus Phiri 15 and Isaiah Nkhoma 13, on August 31, 2016, broke into the house of Mrs Chikondi Chikwapulo at Chikale location whilst the owner was at her work place and stole cash amounting to K195, 000.
“When Mrs Chikwapulo arrived back home from work at around 1800hrs, she was surprised to see her clothes that were in the expand bag scattered all over in her bedroom. After thorough checking, she discovered that money amounting to K195, 000. that she left in the expand bag was missing”, said Esau.
The matter was reported to the police and conducted investigations which led to the arrest of the two on September 6, 2016.
“Upon being interrogated, they voluntarily admitted to have entered into the complainant’s house through the window and stole the said cash. They later revealed to have shared the money, Isaiah Nkhoma getting MK93, 000 whilst Cylus Phiri got MK102 000”, further said Esau.
The two suspects who both hails from Yadinga village under Traditional Authourity (TA) Mankhambira in Nkhata Bay district will appear in court soon to answer charges of House breaking contrary to section 309 (a) and Theft which is contrary to 278 of the penal code.
