Police in Nkhata Bay over the week-end arrested two men for defiling young girls aged between 13 and 15 years respectively.
News Watch Reviews understands that the first incident happened at Mpamba trading centre where a 28yr old man Aubrey Chisulo Mbawa defiled a 13 year old girl.
According to the Police report available to this publication indicates that the girl’s mother, Pililani Ziba, who reported the matter to the Police said on August 31, 2016, the suspect sent the victim to draw water for him. When the young girl was delivering the said water, the suspect took advantage of that and defiled her.
“The victim who is a standard six pupil at Mpamba primary school, reported the matter to her mum who later reported it to police. The victim was referred to Mpamba health centre where defilement was confirmed and the suspect has since been arrested and will appear in court soon”, confirmed Nkhata Bay spokesperson Ignatius Esau.
The suspect hails from Ngamwani village in the area of Traditional Authourity (TA) Kapichi in Thyolo district.
In a related development, an 18 year old boy identified as Yona Kamanga has been arrested for defiling a 15 year old girl.
According to the Nkhata Bay Police, the girl has been in sexual relationship with the suspect since 2015 and on 15 August 2016, the young girl went missing from home.
“This prompted her parents to start searching for her and on 02 September 2016 she was found at the suspect’s home”, said Esau.
The matter was repoted to the police and when the girl was reffered to Nkhata Bay district hospital, it was revealed that she was four months pregnant.
The suspect who hails from Kamoza village under Traditional Authourity (TA) Mkumbira in Nkhata Bay district will appear in court soon to answer charges of defilement contrary to section 138 of the penal code.
