On March 20, the United Nations released the 2017 World Happiness Report to mark the celebration of the International Day of Happiness, according to that report Africa or Africans are least happy people or continent in the world.
The Gallup World Poll was introduced in 2005 and surveys approximately 1,000 residents per country, targeting the entire civilian, non-institutionalized population, aged 15 and older.
Some of the tools used to measure or determine their reports are:
GDP per capita
Health life expectancy
Freedom to make life choices
Perceptions of corruption
Discuss in detail
GDP per capita
The report states that Africa has the lowest GDP per capita.
What is Gross Domestic Product (GDP)?
GDP per capita is a measure of the total output of a country that takes gross domestic product (GDP) and divides it by the number of people in the country.
The per capita GDP is especially useful when comparing one country to another, because it shows the relative performance of the countries. If Africa has the lowest GDP per capita is because Africans imports more than they exports. Most countries of the world will not buy Africa produce if they are not going to benefit from the profit. When 70% of all major companies in Africa are been controlled and run by the rich foreign elites. Also most countries of the world see Africans as inferior and so everything that comes from it. Africa has the highest natural resources in the world, but she is still starving. What does that tell you?

Health life expectancy
African have the lowest health life expectancy says the report.
What is health life expectancy?
Life expectancy (LE): This is an estimate of how many years a person might be expected to live.
Healthy life expectancy (HLE) is an estimate of how many years they might live in a ‘healthy’ state. There is no doubt Africa has been seen to have lowest health life expectancy when she has been turn into an experimental ground for all. Most experimental drugs today are more likely to be tested in Africa than anywhere, eliminating all the natural forms of curing diseases for a supposedly scientific advancement. This in return cost a fortune for an average African to get medical treatment. Flooding the market with GMO (artificial) product which are said to be hazardous to health. And today more Africans live in fear than any other country of the world, where we see foreign made ammunitions on the streets.

What is generosity?
Generosity is the act of being kind and generous to others. Evidently, Africans are the most generous in the world, they believe in giving and welcoming. But hard life is making it more difficult to give. Most countries believe Africa needs free gifts to survive which is false, how can you give to someone supposedly to have everything. The false generosity Africa receives today is more like ‘the more you look the less you see’ scheme. You get 50million in aide, while you are been ripped off in billions. Whose generosity are they talking about?

What is dystopia?
Dystopia is the state or place whereby everything appears to be unpleasant or bad, it can be either by totalitarian or environmentally degraded. This is how Africa appears to be in their eyes which in no doubt is the truth. Only a few African countries are developed, while some which are developed were destroyed by Africans with outside help. What took thousands of people years to build gets destroyed by one man in one day. It’s a sad truth, and it is happening in Africa today. Every leader who comes into power changes everything others had built just to sooth him/her, to favour his/her tribe or religion. There is uncertainty in the land, the rich are the law, criminals are being awarded, and good honest men are killed.

What is social support?
Social support is when you have friends, family and other people, to turn to in times of need or crisis to give you a confident and more focused positive self-image. Social support enhances quality of life if you get the right support. But the question is who is ready to help? In a land of self importance, were the government is about the elite and not the people, were the people around you wants all, were bills are passed not for the real job but for individual pockets. Africans used to be very good at taking care of family members, but today the reverse is the case, the young whom are suppose to take care of the old are on a boat heading to presumably a better life.

Freedom to make choice
What is freedom of choice?
Freedom of choice is the right to exercise your freedoms in any manner you may choose except where such choice may obstruct or prevent others from exercising their freedoms, either by putting yourself or others in danger, or exceeds a statutory limit. If anyone thinks Africans are unhappy due to the lack of freedom of choice, they are absolutely right. Take for example you want to be a musician, your parents are the first to choose a career path you will take in life, not minding your choice. Bringing a man or woman to marry, they choose the opposite not minding whose heavy load it is to carry. If you choose a different religion, you become enemies with other religious members, if you speak a different language you become a minority in your country. If you graduate as a doctor, you will end up a bicycle mechanic. It’s sad isn’t it?

Perceptions of corruption
What is a perception of corruption?
It is the ranking of individual countries according to the extent either high or low by which corruption is believed to exist. It was created in 1995 by Transparency International. It does this by measuring a country’s corruption level on the scale of zero to 10, zero to be high in corruption levels and 10 to be low in corruption level. The biggest and the most depressing thing happening in Africa today is corruption, and it is seen in every corner of the continent. Corruption is everywhere no doubt, but the ability to publicly execute it without fear and proudly committing perjury without consequences makes it even worst. As former PM David Cameron will say, “fanatically corrupt nations” using Nigeria and Afghanistan as reference, and also the President of Nigeria confirming the statement that his country is fanatically corrupt. On every level in the society, you will witness it first hand, from the elected leaders to the police and and the military. The question is who is safe from it?

What is confidence interval?
A confidence interval is measuring the probability that a population parameter will fall between two set values. The confidence interval can take any number of probabilities, with the most common being 95% or 99%. The uncertainty in the rise and fall of the population makes it even harder to determine the average income, birth, death rates, jobs, and the population at large. It’s all based on estimate plus(+) or minus(-), which basically leads to an uncertain future for the continent. What to control, where and when becomes a problem or uncertain, with the people marrying 7 wives and having 15 children, recording over 4-5 accidents in a single day with over 10 to 15 deaths in just one state not country.

Data were used from Gallup world poll, and uses these variables to measure global happiness level and the survey was launched in 2012. The 47 of the 166 countries in the Gallup World Poll are African countries, and only 44 countries made it on the happiness ranking.
The happiness level was measured on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 showing the highest point of happiness.
Algeria emerged as most happy country in Africa at 53rd position in the world while Norway is ranked the happiest in the world followed by Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Finland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand and Sweden.
These things actually make you more saddened knowing someone somewhere actually determined your level of happiness based on a study carried out somewhere else. Some believe is used to suppress people’s feeling making them feel unhappy seeing the results.
As Algeria emerged as happiest in Africa, Mauritius is the 2nd happiest country in Africa and 64th in the world.
Morocco is 4th and 84th in the world,
Somalia is 5th and 93rd in the world,
Nigeria is 6th and 95th in the world,
South Africa is 7th and 101st in the world,
Tunisia is 8th and 102nd in the world,
Egypt is 9th and 104th in the world,
Sierra Leone is 10th and 106th in the world
At the bottom 10 of unhappiest countries in the world are all African countries
Benin is 35th and 143rd in the world,
Madagascar is 36th and 144th in the world,
South Sudan is 37th and 147th in the world,
Liberia is 38th and 148th in the world,
Guinea is 39th and 149 in the world,
Togo is 40th and 150th in the world,
Rwanda is 41st and 151st in the world,
Tanzania is 42nd and 153rd in the world,
Burundi is 43rd and 154th in the world,
Central African Republic is 45th and 155th in world which in fact is the least unhappy country in the world.
These report are based on comparison with other countries of the world and are based on developments under democracy, infrastructure, youth development and population pressure which are one of the said reason for poor performance.
The report also said that if Africa would take a looks at its youth to realise the continent’s dreams of prosperity. Also if the African youth’s confidence in their future and their entrepreneurial spirit were to be matched by substantial investment in their development.
Then, no doubt African countries would join the ranks of the world’s prosperous and happy nations.
In 2016, gallop use face-to-face surveys in all of Sub-Saharan Africa and most of North Africa, and in Libya, a telephone survey methodology has been in used since 2015.
