SOUTH AFRICA: Son Shoots Mother After She Refused To Give Him Money To Buy Nyaope

“A 17-year old boy (name withheld) from Ga-rankuwa Pretoria, has been arrested for allegedly shooting his mother who had refused to give him money to buy Nyaope” Mpho Molefe the Ga-rankuwa police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Around 7pm on Tuesday gun shots were heard in the single mother’s home by neighbors who immediately informed the police.

“When we arrived at the crime scene, we only found two kids between the ages of 5 and 9 and a dead body on the kitchen floor. The kids informed us that their older brother was the one who shot their mom just because she had refused to give him money to buy Nyaope.” Molefe reported.

It is said that after shooting his mom, the boy took some items in the house and fled the scene.

The police tracked him down and they found on Wednesday morning and arrested him.

Nyaope is a very addictive drug also known as whoonga, it is a uniquely South African street drug that is highly addictive and destructive. Nyaope is a fine white powder that is usually combined with marijuana (dagga) and smoked. The fine white powder can be made up from anything from rat poison, heroin, detergent powder, anti-retro-viral drugs, milk powder, pool cleaner to bicarbonate of soda. It is said that a day without the drug is like a week without food. The drug has taken many lives of young people in South Africa.
