Law enforcers at Ekwendeni have launched a search party to trace the whereabouts of a woman who dumped a newly born baby girl at the grave yard in Ekwendeni, the northern region of Malawi.
Mzuzu Police publist, Martin Tul Bwanali told this publication that the baby was discovered on Monday, August 21, 2017 by some children who were playing near the Ekwendeni Mission graveyard.
“In the course of playing they heard the baby crying in the said graveyard. When they went closer they saw a newly born baby abandoned”, said Martin.
The matter was reported to police who took the baby to Ekwendeni Mission Hospital where she is being taken care of and she is in good condition.
Police are therefore appealing to members of the public to assist in tracing the woman. Anyone with information should inform either Ekwendeni Police or nearest police station.
