Police in Mzuzu, the Northern City of Malawi are looking for a woman whose particulars are yet to be established for alledgedly pouring hot porridge on her husband after a quarrel broke out between them.
According to Mzuzu Police deputy publist Cecilia Mfune said on November 3rd, 2016, Mr Masindiza Mvula 40 left his work place for lunch at his house which is situated at Mchengautuwa location within Mzuzu city.
“When he reached home, unfortunately he did not find his wife. As a result he returned to his workplace”, affirmed Cecilia.
Later after knocking off, Mvula asked his wife where she went earlier on. Instead of answering him, the woman decided to exercise her right by remaining silent.
“However the man insisted to know where exactly she went. This did not go well with the woman. She hurriedly went to kitchen and took a pot full of hot porridge meant for their nsima and mercilessly poured on her husband’s head”, concluded Cecilia.
Thereafter the woman ran away leaving her husband who sustained serious wounds on the head and face alone.
He was rushed to Mzuzu Central Hospital where he has been admitted.
Once the woman has been arrested, she will answer the charge of causing grevious harm contrary to section 238 of the Penal Code.The section attracts a maximum sentence of 14 years upon conviction.
Meanwhile, Police in the city are advising couples to engage in communication and solve their differences amicably rather than indulging in domestic violence.
