A 6 year old boy in Mchinji is battling for his life at Mchinji District Hospital after sustaining severe injuries after falling from a moving train in which he was stealing a ride.
Mchinji Police Publist, Inspector Kaitano Lubrino said the accident took place on Sunday October 2, 2016, at around 8 am at the rail main station near Masautso Village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Zulu in Mchinji.
“The victim, Lameck Mtonga, (6) of Masautso Village was playing along the Railway line. As the train came, he tried to steal aride ( in a local language its kuzendewera) which in the process he fell down.”, said Kaitano.
He added, “the train ran over him and sustained two big injuries, a crack across the skull and amputated both limbs”, he concluded.
Currently the boy is under observational treatment as waiting for the Doctors decision to refer him to KCH for rehabilitation services
However, according to the medical practioners’ report, it says eating behavior is just fine as he eats well and takes water without any problem.
