Malawi Police Recovers A Stolen Vehicle; Susspect At Large.

Police in Kasungu have recovered a car which was stolen on November 20, 2016 within Kasungu Municipality at around 2100 hours.

Deputy Police Publist in Kasungu district, Harry Namwaza told News Watch Reviews that on the material day and time Mr. Isaac Zimba, 27 who is a taxi driver was driving a motor vehicle registration number MJ 5646, Toyota Carina silver in colour.

“It is alleged that at around 2100 hours Zimba was approached by a certain unknown man who wanted to hire his car to Chikho Hotel which is within Kasungu Municipality. After reaching an agreement with the alleged customer, Zimba started off the engine heading towards the customer’s destination”,

“In the course of their journey, Zimba stopped at Culture Club to buy airtime from the nearby shop leaving the car key on the ignition. It is also alleged that, as Zimba went out to buy airtime, his alleged customer also went out to buy airtime too but he was the first one to return and upon reaching where the car had been parked he drove off the car in question to unknown destination”, affirmed Harry.

The matter was reported to Kasungu Police Station and upon receiving the report they launched a manhunt for the suspect.

“As police enquiries were in progress, on November 22, 2016 Police received a tip that a certain car similar to the one police were looking for had been abandoned along Dowa road. Police together with the owner of the stolen car rushed to the scene and discovered that it was the same car they were looking for”, he added.

Meanwhile, Police are still hunting for the suspect in question.
