Two core criminals who were on the run after breaking into the house of Mr Harry Chalira where they made away with several items have been arrested by the Police in Kasungu.
The two identified by the Police are Paul Mtsindula, 26, of Tomasi village under Traditional Authority (TA) Tomasi in Thyolo district and Nelson Phiri, 32, of Njoka village under Traditional Authority (TA) Chimutu in Lilongwe district
Harry Namwaza, the district’s deputy public relations officer said during the night of July 20, 2016, unknown criminals broke into the house of Mr Harry Chalira, Assistant District Forest Officer for Kasungu where they made away with several items.
“After receiving the complaint, Police launched a manhunt for the two until on September 2, 2016 when the wanted suspected core criminals were nabbed. Upon searching in their house, we discovered various stolen items”, said Harry.
News Watch Reviews understands that the discovered items which were also seized by the Police include; Suzuki motorcycle, one big electronic scale, one TV screen, one Tiger head generator, one engine motor, one solar panel, three pedal bicycles, two shavers, one carpet, one three quarter 4 inch mattress,one Amazon battery,one sub woofer, one blanket, six plastic chairs, two extensions, two panga knives, five bags of maize flour, one bag of beans, and seventeen bags of white maize which the two stole from various houses including that of Mr Harry Chalira.
Meanwhile, Police enquiries are underway to trace where the two suspects stole the other mentioned items.
The two will appear before court soon when investigations are completed.
