According to the Police report made available to News Watch Reviews by the district’s police spokesperson Sergeant Ignatius Esau, this incident took place on the night of Wednesday, 15th of June 2016.
Ignatius Esau said earlier that day all knocking off procedures were followed, where all entrances were locked around 1630hrs by Mr Peter Jere who works at the court as a clerk under the guardian of Mr George Kumwenda a court marshal.
“It was until when the court clerk reported for duties the next day that he was told by the court marshal that the accounts office was broken into and when he went round the office, he discovered that the criminals gained entry through the rear window”, said Esau
The law enforcers from Chintheche Police Station visted the scene of crime and discovered that the safe in the cashier’s office was tampered with but nothing was stolen as the robbers failed to bit its security mechanism.
