Leeds Army Barracks On Lockdown As Bomb Squad Rush In
The home to the Parachute Regiment at Leeds army barracks is on lockdown as police probe a bomb scare.
The West Yorkshire Police received reports of a suspicious item at 9.45am
Officers arrived to the scene at Thornbury Barracks the fourth Battalion Parachute Regiment located in Leeds. They immediately evacuated the area as police probe a reported suspicious package.
Bomb disposal experts are also on the scene and the police have released a statement saying:
“Please be aware that Bradford Rd is currently closed at Gain Lane & Woodhall Lane due to a report of a suspicious package at Thornbury Army Barracks. Police officers are on the scene and the public should by all means avoid the area while enquiries are on-going.”
Britain is again on high alert, after a terror attack which left five people dead at Westminster this week.
Bus passengers and motorists have been warned to expect delays due to the road closures.
