The Paris Saint Germain coach, Laurent Blanc, has left the club after spending three seasons in charge.
Laurent Blanc was last season labelled as a failure by the club’s president Nasser al Khelaifi because the club was eliminated from the champions league.
The former national team coach, won three tittles and domestic trebles since he was appointed in 2013 but he has failed to win the European trophy, the Champions league.
PSG officials said they have found his replacement.
“We have found a replacement for Laurent Blanc and its Unai Emery who will steer our team from next season. Both parties have discussed and signed the contract”, said officials.
The club has signed Unai Emery from the Spanish club, Sevilla. Emery led Sevilla to three straight Europa League titles. Emery cut his ties with Sevilla two weeks ago after being linked with PSG and he was still under contract with the team until June 2017 but they negotiated an early release from his contract.
Emery showed excitement when he was unveiled as a PSG coach. “I am honestly happy to be named as the PSG coach. This is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I happy and honoured to be part and parcel of the team”, said Unai.
The 44 year old has signed a two year contract with an option for an additional season and he will begin his coaching duties immediately.
