The growing numbers of Kenya’s street kids and homelessness had Anne Lokidor, the Nairobi city’s youth affairs and education executive repatriate about 890 homeless kids. Anne Lokidor also said tens of other kids across the city ┬áhave been taken to rehab centres where they are put through rehabilitation program.

Speaking to reporters Lokidor said the move was part of a multi-agency initiative that aims to rehabilitate and reintegrate street urchins without homes and parents and whose relatives cannot be traced.

Africa has seen a growing trend in homelessness in recent years, while efforts to eradicate homelessness are being echoed in the corridors of power, many Africans believe the root cause for the problem which is lack of jobs and community support is left unattended.
