Police in the Northern city of Malawi, Mzuzu, on Thursday, 11th August arrested Yakobe Tembo and James Wowa for allegedly causing death of the 1st suspect’s wife.
The deceased is a 24 year old Sarah Zgambo hailed from Mwazisi village under Traditional Authority (TA) Chikulamayembe in Rumphi district. She was staying with Yakobe Tembo, the first suspect as a family at Chiputula in the city.
The 1st suspect and deceased’s relations reported about the murder to Chiputula Police Unit where a criminal file against unknown criminals was opened.
Mzuzu Police publist, Martin Bwanali ssid the aforementioned people stated in their statements that on July 31 this year, Sarah told her husband who is the 1st suspect that she was going to her sister’s house at Zolozolo West for family issues.
“However Sarah did not return home that day and surprisingly her body was found dead at a Botanic garden the following morning”, said Bwanali.
Police visited the scene of crime and did the usual professional needful. Thereafter the body was taken to Mzuzu Central Hospital for postmortem and results revealed that death was due to head injuries as a result of assault by a blunt object.
Police investigations started and sister to Sarah told the Police she never hosted Sarah on that particular date.
Police further established that after noting Sarah was not returning home, at around 2000 hours, her unsuspecting husband accompanied by his friend, 2nd suspect followed her.
While on their way, the suspects found Sarah having quality time, busy chatting with another man at a certain place.
The 1st suspect became angry and with the help of the 2nd suspect, started beating up the two dumbfounded lovers.
The cheating man told Police he escaped with injuries and he rushed to the hospital the same night where he was admitted. He further said Sarah failed to escape and that the following morning he learnt with shock on his hospital bed that her body was found dead.
In view of the above the two men have been arrested on the allegation that they were the ones who committed the offence.
The suspects who have denied the wrong doing will appear in court to answer murder charges contrary to section 209 of the Penal Code.
The 43 year old Yakobe Tembo hails from Lukhuwi village while his accomplice 21 year old James Wowa comes from Pendame village both under Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in Rumphi district.
