It is not just raining in Peoples Party (PP) but its pouring as two more senior members over the weekend have defected to other parties. This is a non stop donation of its party members to other political parties.
Former Minister in the administration of former President Joyce Banda, Halima Daudi over the weekend resigned from the Peoples Party and joined the main opposition party, the Malawi Congress Party led by Dr Lazarus Chakwera.
Also defecting is former administrative Secretary of Peoples Party, Reverend Peter Kaleso who has joined the Umodzi Party. Both of them announced their defection from the party they have spent most of their time over the weekend.
Since PP lost elections in 2014, alot of notable figures that have also defected from the party joining either other opposition parties or the ruling party.
Some of the prominent figures which have left the Peoples Party (PP) under Joyce Banda are Publicity Secretary Ken Msonda, Sidik Mia, Rachel Mazombwe Zulu, Profesor David Mphande, Mzuzu Mayor Williams Mkandawire, Malani Mtonga, Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo, Khumbo Kachale, Cassim Chilumpha and Brown Mpinganjira.
Since Joyce Banda was defeated in the 2014 tripatrite elections she has never returned to Malawi and the party has been in shambles since then.
Some have described the party as a sinking ship which does not have a captain to steer it forward.
