Portugal will have to wake up from slumber as they will be looking for their first win against the resilient Croatian national team.
The Portuguese team is yet to win at the Euro 2016, they have drawn their first three games in the group stages against Iceland, Hungary and Iceland.
Fernando Santos’s team progressed from their group as one of the four best third placed sides.
The Portuguese coach will depend on his superstar Christiano Ronaldo who scored his first two goals at the tournament against Hungary.
“Rinaldo is back to form after scoring those superb goals against Hungary, and hopefully we will win this important game”, said Santos.
On this day against Hungary, Ronaldo broke two records. The 31 year old star made a record of appearing at the European Championship finals for the 17th time allowing him to overtake former France defender Lilian Thuram and the former Dutch goalkeeper Edwin Van De Sar.
The Real Madrid player, became the first player to score at four European Championship finals.
On the other side, the Portuguese will have a huge to negotiate their way through Croatian defence who have shown that they are not easy to beat.
On Tuesday, Croatia surprised the world when they beat the defending champions 2-1 to progress as the top team of their group.
The last match in European competitions was in 1996 when Portugal defeated Croatia 3-0 and this will be an interesting match since Croatia will be looking forward for revenge.
