A brutal murder took place in the northern city of Malawi, Mzuzu on November 27 this year after a woman was killed by her boyfriend and chopped off her hand, police have confirmed.
Police have launched an intensive manhunt to trace the whereabouts of the murderer identified as Bruce Tembo Mtegha, 38 years old of Lukalazi Village under Traditional Authority Kabunduli in Nkhata Bay District for allegedly murdering his girlfriend
Mzuzu police deputy publist Cecilia Mfune said Mr Clement Matewere who is a block leader at hilltop location told the Police that on November 23, 2016 the deceased, Chimwemwe Jere, 38, left her house in the mentioned location to visit her boyfriend in Masasa and she did not return.
“On November 27, 2016 at around 0900hrs, she was found dead in a decomposed state while covered with a blanket in a vacant house. Deep cuts were observed on the head and the left hand was chopped away but not found at the scene”, said Cecilia.
Postmoterm which was done by Mzuzu Central Hospital medical personnel revealed that death was due excessive bleeding.
Meanwhile, the suspect is at large believed to have gone to Mozambique, however police is investigating the matter for his arrest.
The deceased hailed from Nyambose Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mpherembe in Mzimba district.
