A 20 year old man identified by the police as Kondwani Kamanga drowned in Lake Malawi while fishing.
According to reports reaching News Watch Reviews indicates that the deceased met his fate on July 20, 2016 at around 1700hrs in Nkhata Bay district.
A police report made available to this publication by Nkhata Bay Police public relations officer, Ignatius Esau demonstrated that they received a report from his sibling Patrick Kamanga that his brother is missing.
“We received a report from his brother that the deceased went fishing and he has not returned home. His canoe and fishing nets were found floating on the water in the mid night of July 20, 2016. We as the Police rule out foul play on the incident”, said Esau.
Nkhata Bay Police in conjunction with other fishermen from the district launched and intensive search to find the remains of the deceased. In course of searching, the body of the deceased was found floating on the waters of Lake Malawi on Saturday, 23 July 2016 at around 1000hrs.
The scene of the incident was visited by both police and medical personnel who conducted postmortem which revealed that death was due to surffocation.
The deceased hailed from Chisindi village in the area of Traditional Authority Mankhambira in Nkhata Bay district.
